We want your jewelry to last, so it is important to take care of your new piece. Gold jewelry is quite lasting and durable but it can get scratched and dented, if it is treated too harshly – pieces worn on hands and wrists, such as rings and bracelets, are especially susceptible to this kind of damage. It is always wise to keep that in mind and take them off before activities that are potentially high-impact. Gold that is repeatedly exposed to dust, moisture, perspiration and makeup can eventually collect dirt and marks, and over time lose some of its radiant shine. Here are some tips on best care and cleaning practices for your new piece.
Wearing jewelry with pearls when showering, in a hot tub, sauna, or steam bath.
Putting your jewelry in contact with harsh chemicals such as cleaning products.
CLEANING AND POLISHING
One of the easiest ways to clean your jewelry is in a warm soapy bath. Simply soak for a few minutes in warm water and with a soft bristled brush (such as a baby toothbrush) remove any stubborn dirt in hard to reach places. Regular dish soap works great for this.
For pearl jewelry use a soft buffing cloth to clean, avoid hot water.
It is best to store each piece of gold jewelry in an individual plastic bag or cloth pouch, wrap them in soft tissue or keep them in a fabric-lined jewelry box with separate compartments (you can use silica gel packets to help absorb moisture from the air). This will prevent your pieces from getting scratched or tangled and will reduce the potentially harmful exposure to outside elements.
We believe, part of the appeal of jewelry is seeing the love and wear in a piece, but should you want your piece re-polished just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we are happy to restore it to its original finish for a charge of $50.00 USD.
